Biography

This page is about me, the person who made this website! I'm Dawn. (well, I'm Dawn to you. Gotta keep your privacy on the net.) I'm a 24-year-old outgoing student from Germany. I've studied German and English.

But since you bothered to click on my bio page, you probably want to know more about my interests, right? You can probably tell from the way this page looks that I'm interested in all kinds of old computers, including home computers, video game consoles, consumer electronics... Obviously, the original Macintosh's have a very special place in my heart. But so does the original PlayStation, and 32-bit systems in general, like the GameBoy Advanced.

I also enjoy a lot of literature, especially the kind that is horror-adjacent. My favorite author is probably William S. Burroughs, and my favorite book is the magical artifact known as Naked Lunch. I also similarly enjoy Michael Gira's books as much as his music. American Psycho really stuck with me, and I'm not sure if that's a good thing... I really enjoy tense and mysterious books, and yes, I have now read House of Leaves. Because of that, I've taken to writing a number of short stories, some of which you may see or have seen on this site.

Lastly, I'm also a very big fan of music. My favorite musical act is undoubtedly Nine Inch Nails. Trent Reznor really redefined my conception of the boundaries of music. Expectedly, I enjoy Industrial music and Alternative Rock a lot in general, especially where those genres bleed over into Experimental territory. Honorable mentions here go to Coil, Stone Temple Pilots, Alice in Chains, The Sisters of Mercy, Godspeed You! Black Emperor... and Steely Dan. My love of music has also brought me to start my own musical project... which will hopefully make its first release sooner rather than later. Oh well, life waits for no one.

Video games are still a thing, right? I don't know, I mostly play Doom --- that is, the game called "Doom" from 1993, not the game called "Doom" from 2016. But there are a lot of others I've enjoyed: Cruelty Squad, Minecraft, Elden Ring, Titanfall 2... Overall, I think I enjoy either slow and creative games or extra tough high-octane action titles. Go figure.
